Later we see Markus discovering an ad for people who really love children, in the newspaper.
Markus comes to visit a therapist for such people. The therapist asks some basic questions like what does he hope to gain from therapy. Markus tells the therapist he wants rid of his attraction to children. He is worried he’ll someday hurt a boy. Fortunately the therapist lays it real with him by informing Markus that it’s an orientation and immutable. This information gravely upsets him. The prospect of never having a satisfying relationship and never being able to have sex leading Markus to weep. This scene is one of the most painful to rewatch or think about. Markus oh my poor baby. I want to comfort him: tell him everything will be okay, give him a hug, or a pat on the back, but I myself am not in a much better position mentally, for I have a similar fate.
Soon after Markus develops suicidal thoughts. In the next therapy session, his therapist hands him some very extreme advice. He tells Markus that he should avoid children at all costs, even leaving a room if a child is in it. The therapy also prescribed him some medicine.
