Fortunately the next scene is cute… at least in my opinion… as we watch our protagonist rehearse how he will greet Arthur and what clothes he shall wear over dinner. It is so stinkin’ cute. During dinner we learn the father of Arthur is a deadbeat. Next we see Markus hitting it off with Arthur as they bond over playing a board game together.
We later see Markus taking pictures of boys at the public swimming pool. He even gets to share a public shower with two boys, he discreetly watches. We then cut to Arthur’s mom asking Markus at the last minute if he can babysit. Markus and Arthur get even closer. Markus reads the boy a story. It’s such a cute and wholesome scene especially since Arthur has a stuffie. As Arthur snuggles up, Markus hovers his hand over Arthur’s body. We get a peek into his imagination, it’s nothing explicit, just Arthur sitting on the edge of a bed then /markus coming over to caress him and kiss his head.
In my first viewing, I thought this scene was cannon but in the second viewing I realized it’s Markus’ own fantasy.
